Question about HP-IB interface

This may sound primitive to you, but I would really appreciate your help--we have a HP 5527A laser measurement system, and wanna transfer the sampled data from it to PC. Do I need to install a HP-IB card in my PC to hook them up, or can I simply use the parallel port to do so? BTW, where can I get a guide of programming for HP-IB interfacing? Thanks.

Re: Question about HP-IB interface

Hello Vic,

you'll need the interface card in your PC, since the HP-IB is NOT compatible with the PC's centronics-style parallel interface.

Sorry,

Re: Question about HP-IB interface

HP-IB interface was terminated a few years ago by HP and is not supported.

I would doubt that any reference material is available for it.

Re: Question about HP-IB interface

Not sure if this will help you at all, being as late as it is, but I have an HP 7090A that I have a photocopied manual for. If you are still looking for one, let me know and I will see if I can get you a copy. I too have to figure out how to capture info from the 7090 into my computer.
