Time zone in forum messages stuck on GMT

I feel silly for not being able to solve this on my own, but... heck if I can get the time to display in EST. Even now, as I type this message I see "Nov 7, 2005 14:29:54 GMT" at the top. I'm not a computer. I don't deal in GMT. It's 9:29 AM EST. Please point me in the right direction. I tried setting it in my profile, but it isn't "taking".

Re: Time zone in forum messages stuck on GMT

Andy,
I'm not sure, but IMO the forums - being *international* - are using GMT as the default and AFAICS one cannot change that.

Re: Time zone in forum messages stuck on GMT

I'm a member of many international forums and they're able to display the time in my local format, which is why they usually ask for local time zone in your profile. It's a simple forum feature. There must be a way.

Thanks for the reply.

Re: Time zone in forum messages stuck on GMT

There is no way I know of to change this. Yes, it would be nice, but at this point I don't think it can be done.

Re: Time zone in forum messages stuck on GMT

Knowing that it can't be done is good enough for me. I hope it's workable in the future. Closing thread. Thanks, Patrick.

Re: Time zone in forum messages stuck on GMT

Hi Andy,

I wrote about this recently. Here is the link:

Of course it can be done. It is basic arithmetic, not complex coding. But it is way down the HP Forum Admin priority list.

The HP Forum is the only forum I know of, which uses the GMT - one size fits all - worldwide.

Thanks for the additional info, Jay. Glad I'm not the only one. Hopefully, it'll be an added feature in the future.
