xw8400 will not boot

We have a series of xw8400 workstations that do not boot-up on a cold morning. Once the systems have booted up they work perfectly but whenever it has been cold during the night, upon booting up the system just does nothing. We then usually leave the computers turned on for about 5-10 minutes do a re-boot and they work perfectly.
Any ideas ?
We have tried re-installing os but the same problem occurs

Re: xw8400 will not boot

IT almost sounds like you are in Siberia or something.

A PC has a wide temperature range. In fact most HDD's work a little better when they are cold.

I would guess its the reboot that is refreshing the PC more than anything else.

Re: xw8400 will not boot

John,
thanks for the response. The room temperature during the night is between 6-8 degrees centigrade which equates to about 45 degrees farenheit.

Re: xw8400 will not boot

Ok, after checking your models environmental specs, it says that temps between 40-95F (5-32c) are ok. However, we all know that temp gages are not the most accurate, and I suspect that your right on the border of it's happy place, temp wise. I would suggest, either raising your nighttime temps a bit, or leave them in Standby mode, which may help keep them warm, because the CPU and Ram are suppose to be active, albeit, in a low power state!

forum points appreciated!

[ Edited ]

My HP XW8400 will not boot boot when the room is cold.

Below 58 degrees (no go) -- above 58 degrees (okay).

Use a space heater to warm the room works.
