XP installation on an HP xw4300 Workstation

I have an xw4300 workstation that has Windows 2003 Server installed on it. I want to install XP Professional instead, but when I boot from an XP SP2 CD it can't detect a hard drive. It has a 160GB SATA drive. Any suggestions?

Hi Vince! You will have to install the SATA driver for the controller you have on the MB. If you have the drivers on a CD you will have to copy them on a floppy disk. When you boot Windows XP from the CD and get to the screen that reads something like "... install RAID or SCSI devices", you will have to press F6 key. It will ask you to provide the floppy disk after which the SATA controller driver will be installed.

Good Luck!
