USB problem on a XW8000?

[ Edited ]

Hi all,

Perhaps someone has seen the same situation occur.
The specs of the XW8000 are:
OS: WinXP SR1 + all Windows updates
Processor: 2 x Intel Xeon 3.06 GHz
Storage: Maxtor Atlas 10K SCSI U160 72/144 GB
Memory: 1 GB
USB 2.0 devices: Plextor 40/12/40 CD-RW, USB stick, Sweex Flashcard reader
Internal devices: Standard HP DVD ROM, Sony DRU-700A
Problem: After a random time, usually more than 2 hours, the explorer (not the Internet Explorer) stops responding or hangs at startup.
Shutting down the XW also hangs.
Other programs continue without interruption. For instance Winamp still works.
Cool Edit Pro 2.1 works untill I try to save a file.
After powering down (and sometimes even after powering up) the Plextor burner all hanging applications and shuting down start responding again.
My nearest guess is, that Roxio Media Creator 7 Drag-to-Disc can be causing this.
Sometimes, when shutting down, I get a message that Drag-to-Disc can't be stopped.
Curious that they withdrew the latest (7.1.1.189) update.
I have updated the BIOS to the latest (JQ.W1.15) and installed the Intel USB driver (SP25335).
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Rene.
