I still (after my first post) have an Hp Z800 workstation with 16Gb ram that I want to upgrade to 48Gb.
And, as I noted in another post, this HP document - HP Z800 Memory Configuration and Optimization- says:
*The HP Z800 supports Unbuffered 1GB single rank and 2GB dual rank PC3-10600E 1333MHZ ECC DIMMs
*The HP Z800 supports Registered 4GB and 8GB dual rank PC3-10600R and PC3-10600P 1333MHz DIMMs
I have found a good deal on what appears to be some authentic HP-branded ram, part #'s
Described as "HP 4GB 1x4GB PC3-10600 Registered CAS 9 Dual Rank x4 DRAM Memory Kit"
Desribed as "4GB PC3-10600R 256 MB x 4 Dual in-line Memory Module (DIMM)"
Described as "4GB, 1333MHz, PC3-10600R-9, DDR3, dual-rank x4, 1.50V, registered dual in-line memory module (RDIMM)"
All three, if I understand correctly, are "Registered 4GB ...dual rank PC3-10600R ...1333MHz DIMMs"
So, in theory they should work in my machine. BUT - all of them list only servers and such as their compatible systems - no mention of the Z800 in their compatibility lists.
Will they work in my machine? Will they work well in my machine?
As discussed in my first post, these are all dual rank units, whereas the 4Gb sticks currently in the machine are single-rank. so I'd be tossing the old and installing all new of one of these if it makes sense to go that way.

The 500203-061 has a heat sink around rge chips and over the top. This increases the height of the card by a smidgen and a half. That interfers with the fan schroud that touches the tops of the cards. That provides a not so tight connection for the memory fan connector which is a blind floating connector. So, it works, but there's a little engineering to do.
