Decoding Serial Numbers

Can anyone tell me how or if the serial number tells me what year the PC was manufactured? For instance V235KPBZA739

Re: Decoding Serial Numbers

Bob...

I doubt if that's actually a serial number. Here's what the HP web site returned for a search on the string:

More than 300 products contain the term "v235kpbza739".

It might help if you identified the product you're interested in (Pavilion 2300, etc.)

Re: Decoding Serial Numbers

The serial number is from an old evod510 manufactured back in 2001. I know Compaq use to have identifiers in the serial number that indicated the year/month of when the unit was manufactured..Anyway I got the information I was looking for at
