Hi, I need to be able to use the Windows user auto logon feature which requires being able to run the control userpasswords2 command in XP or the netplwiz command with Windows 7. Unfortunately when logged on as the administrator neither of these commands run on the HPt5740e Thin Client with the Windows 7 Embedded Standard OS. The netplwiz..exe file exist in the Windows\System32 folder but when run as administrator the following error message is displayed: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." If the machine adiministrator does not have the appropriate permissions who does?

Execute rights have been removed from netplwiz.exe because it stores the password in a different place than other utilities on the system. Will the 'HP Logon Manager' control panel applet work for you to set autologon? If not, you can change the permissions on netplwiz.exe, but know that you may experience problems when imaging, etc when it comes to setting autologon.

So far it seems that the HP Logon Manager applet will work in place of netplwiz.exe. The same customer wants to use this model Thin Client with the Planar model # PT1705MU-BK touch-displays they own. Do you know if these touch-displays will work?

If the monitor has drivers available, it may work. Most touch features of WES7 have been limited by Microsoft to the P license SKU. HP currently ships the E license SKU, which does not have the standard Microsoft touch capabilities. If the monitor does not work, you may need to talk to sales about P SKU licensing.
