I submitted a patch for Session Broker Token Redirection support that is now in FreeRDP (http://www.freerdp.com/).
You can follow the instructions here: http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/Workstations-Thin-Cli
So essentially now if you have a load balancer in front of your Windows 2008 R2 Farm, and you are using Token Redirection (Network Load Balancing mode or NLB), the clients should be properly redirected to the server that has their session.
RDesktop doesn't have this capability, and I started to write a patch but the rdesktop code was just too messy so I gave up. RDesktop also doesn't have TLS support, which I needed, so in my opinion just go with FreeRDP. You will lose the ability to use the rdesktop plugins like Flash MMR etc, but hopefully we can get some of the Quest devs (that wrote HP's Flash MMR) to contribute to FreeRDP and get this capability.
Kudos to the FreeRDP team for helping me get this fix in and helping clean up my code.

Hi Adam
I have the same configuration (HP 5565t ThinPro's with Windows 2008 R2 RDS) and I am really keen to get this working as RDP disconnects cause us big issues when trying to reconnect!
I have followed through your instructions but I am getting stuck at step 5d. I type in the 'cmake' command but I get the following errors:
--------------------------------------------------
Cmake Erro: Cmake was unable to find a buid program corresponding to 'Unix Makefiles"! CMAKE _MAKE_PROGRAM is not set. You probably need to select a different build tool.
CMake Error: Error required internal CMAKE variable not set, cmake may not be built correctly.
Missing variable is : CMAKE_C_COMPUTER_ENV_VAR
Missing variable is: CMAKE_C_COMPILER
CMake Error: Could not find cmake module file : /FreeRDP/CMAKEFILES/CMakeCCOMPILER.cmake.
CMake Error: CMAKE_C_COMPILER not set, after EnableLanguage
-Configuring incomplete, errors occurred.
--------------------------------------------------
Are you able to offer any additional help?
Many thanks
Lee

I just realized I had two 5d's in the instructions: fixed.
Can you let me know what line it is, with the adjusted system?

Hi Adam
It's line 5d that is generating the errors.
Many thanks for your help

I don't suppose anyone has any experience fixing this same issue on the Smart Client 'z' product range? We're running 5335z and 5665z's and running into the exact same issue. However, as they're the Smart Client, they work a bit differently than the ThinPro. To the best of my knowledge, there is no way for me to go into any Admin mode, install packages via apt or even re-compile anything. I could convert one 5665z into a ThinPro and follow the above steps, but I'd be at a bit of a loss on how to then package that up to a .deb and integrate it in the Automatic Update service for the Z's. Any help or pointers would sincerely be appreciated!
