Change Admin password on Thinpro using HP Device Manager

Does anyone have a method to change the admin password on the Thinpro OS using device manager?  I have one that works for Windows thin clients but my linux skills are lacking.

Thanks

Re: Change Admin password on Thinpro using HP Device Manager

Hi swilson

This method might help you:

1. In the HPDM Console, create a new template from the Base Template "_File & Registry"

(this should be under the main "HP ThinPro" tab of the console)

2. On the Content tab of the new template, click on Add and select "Command"

3. In the Command column type in: echo root:newpassword | chpasswd

(replace newpassword with whatever password you want)

4. Click on Ok and Save As, name the template as Change Password

Now just deploy this Change Password template to all the required ThinPro devices.

Regards,

Jon

Jon,

Thanks that does the trick.  I have had HP working on this for a week now and their solution worked but involed copying the shadow file and our IPS blocks that file from being moved across the network.
