Switching Monitor on J5600

[ Edited ]

I am working primarily through Exceed to interface with a Visualize J5600 server in another location. The J5600 manual indicates it is only compatible with certain 19 or 21 inch monitors. I wanted to use a 17 inch IBM monitor with the J5600 (for the few times someone is actualy at the server) so the 19 inch monitor that came with the server can be where the actual users are.

Can it be done?

Thanks,
Ben Kimmel

Re: Switching Monitor on J5600

I don't know about your IBM monitor but my gut feelings are yes it may well do.

My reasons : I checked the Product Support Plans for J5000/J7000/J5600 :

Monitors
---------------------------------------------------
21" (19.9" viewable) color monitor A4576A
(VGA up to 1600x1200)

19" (18.3" viewable) color monitor A4575A
(VGA up to 1600x1200)
17" (16" viewable) color monitor D2838W

are listed for the J5000's & J7000's, unfortuantly nothing listed against the J5600, it's worth a go I guess ?

Re: Switching Monitor on J5600

Hi,

you could try the following:
Trun computer on
Interrupt the boot sequence at:
Processor is booting from first available device.
To discontinue, press any key within 10 seconds.
Now you get the boot menu
Change to configuration menu with: CONFIGURATION
Then type: MONITOR
and you will get the current settings.
To change monitor type use: MONITOR graphics(#) NR
where # is the number getting from previous MONITOR command and NR is the monitor number for which you can get a list with: MONITOR LIST

Try different NR to see if it works with your 17" monitor

Re: Switching Monitor on J5600

That worked perfectly. All I had to do was specify a size that was understood by the 17" monitor.

Thanks so much.
