Hi,

Which process?

Have you tried 'Ctrl' + 'c'?
Can you stop the process with 'kill'?

Re: IPL B180 HPUX

Hi again,

we are talking about the boot up process?
Can you see the boot process?
Can you change the display settings?
If not:
Watch the keyboard after pushing power button - as soon as a light flashes press the 'TAB' slowly several times till you can see an output.
Then confirm this display settings.

Thanks works but now I have the next fail in the recovery:
*Creating Volume group "vg00".
vgcreate: Volume group "/dev/vg00/" could not be created: file too large
ERROR : Command "/sbin/vgcreate -A n -e 5420 -1 255 -p 16 -s 32 /dev/vg00
/dev/dsk/c0t6d0" failed

And one question appear and say ....The configuration process has incurred an error, Woild you like to push a shell for debugging purposes ?(y/[n]):

If I press not the system reboot if I press yes goes to the line prompt #

Re: IPL B180 HPUX

Where does 'vgcreate' comes from?
What are you trying to do?
Is there no os installed?

Hi again,

sorry , have to go now
Is this a ignite tape?
If not - I never tried to install from a backup without a running os - I can´t believe that this will work.
Else check your vgcreate command - as said it seems like your options are too large.
Choose smaller ones.

Do you have a new hard disk now?
Or where is the backup from?

hi Juan,

first up, what is the version you are trying to install? 10.20 by any chance?

If so what is the date of the OS? do you know?

There were limits with 10.20 but, you seem to be covered with the size of extent at 32.

the reason I ask the date version of the media is there were patched for LVM. The largest file size was at one point 128gb for example.

ERROR : Command "/sbin/vgcreate -A n -e 5420 -1 255 -p 16 -s 32 /dev/vg00
/dev/dsk/c0t6d0" failed

is this a copy of the error, typo perhaps?
(-1 255 should be -l 255) or is it my eyes!

see this thread for soem interesting info

http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/hp-ux-based/Disk-limitation-on-HP-UX-10-20/m-p/4068348#M7400

do you really need to make the whole disk VG00?

Re: IPL B180 HPUX

Hi Mr. V.
It's a segate 180G I'm Steve an Jesse say:
The problem is the size of the drive is very large. 10.20 has limitations with a vanilla install on a large drive, even as little as 36gb. I need to adjust some settings but with that dat install I don't get the chance to tweak those settings before the system starts installing. I'm use a tape desater recovery.
