I am trying to connect a HP 18" LCD flatscreen display with a HP 9000
workstation model 712/100.
Although the resolution is set correctly the display intermittently "flashes"
to a blank screen. It is not a set frequency of flashes, but appears random in
The display and video cables are not faulty - I've tested them on an NT
Any ideas much appreciated.

B/C/Jxx00 models, as well as the X/P personal workstation models. The native
resolution of the display is 1280x1024 @ 75Hz. I don't have one of these
displays to test on a 712, but could you confirm (via BOOT_ADMIN) that your
resolution is set to this mode and not "sync-on-green"?

Thanks for rsponding.
I've interrupted the boot admin and allowed the system to cycle through many of
the monitor types - always seeing the same screen blanking.
I also manually set the monitor to the HP L1800 Monitor recommended resolution
of 1280x1024 @ 60Hz since this should is supported by the 712/100 - (monitor
I've tried many of the types including the obvious 1024x768 @ 75Hz.
I'm still seeing the screen blank for a second or so. It's almost as if it's
power related, but can't be since the monitor works fine on an NT client
(Omnibook 3000 laptop).
Any other ideas?

I have the exact same issue. Did you ever find a solution? Sorry I have to follow a thread that is 2 years old, but this is the only post turn out in the search.
