I wish to upgrade this to the maximum 1 GB. The RAM compatibility program on this site suggests PC3200 RAM. But when I use other RAM configurators on memory company sites like Crucial and OCZ, I get conflicting results. Some suggest only the original PC2100 RAM is compatible. Others have claimed PC2700 and PC3200 are compatible. What gives? I am not tech savvy. Are these PC2700 and PC3200 sticks backward compatible to the a200n?

If Crucial says PC3200 is compatible, it should be. If you buy it from Crucial, they guarantee it will work on your system. Generally PC3200 and PC2700 are backward compatible to PC2100 but not always.

There are no issues in upgrading your a200n with PC3200 memory but the catch is you will not find any difference in performance as the a200n motherboard cannot take speeds more than what PC2100 can offer. In other words the PC 3200 will just perfrom as PC2100 memory. So I suggest you stick with a much cheaper PC 2100 memory.
