RDRAM with a HP xv799

I have just recieved a HP xv799 with 128MB of RDRAM
I have been considering up grading the RAM in this PC but I have been told not to go over 512MB of RDRAM with Windows ME due to possible complications (unspecified what those are) but I have four (4) card slots and This websites specs on this PC says a maximum of 1 gig of Ram
My question is before I go and spend the money to purchase the memory at $109.00
for a 256 stick multiplied by four. Can I go 1 gig or is this pc stuck at 512 max?

Re: RDRAM with a HP xv799

Please note that this is an HP UNIX forum and not the PC hardware forum.

That being said, have a look at this document:
http://www.hp.com/cgi-bin/cposupport/get_doc.pl?SNI=hppavilion28144&LC=personal_computing&Tfile=bph0...

It appears that this PC can only handle 512MB RAM either with a 2 x 256MB or 4 x 128MB configuration.

Re: RDRAM with a HP xv799

The 512MB RDRAM limitation is due to Windows ME. ME gets "confused" if more than 512MB is present. You can upgrade the Pavilion to 1 gig if you want, but you'd have to change to a better OS (XP for example).
