Pavillion 6640C Floppy

On startup, the BIOS gives me an error "02B0" for the floppy drive. If I ignore it and continue to Windows, my floppy shows up as a 5 1/4" drive. Not accessible. Have tried switching floppy drives but I get the same symptom. Have installed latest floppy drivers and checked cables. Any ideas?

The floppy drive controller could be failing.

Re: Pavillion 6640C Floppy

If you try this I think it will work:

shut down. re-start, when the blue logo screen appears hit esc, before the diag page is done posting, hit F1. it should the say "ENTERING SETUP" at the bottom. It will open directly into bios page 1. Navigate with arrow keys, to floppy A, open with enter key. Bet you a penny it's incorrectly listed as the wrong drive type. Follow all nav and entry instructions in BIOS carefully, set it for 1.44, find your way to exit, it will reboot and your floppy will work.
