Help please

Hello guys
I have a Compaq Presario 5333

I've replaced the 3.5 inch Floppy because every time I inserted a diskett, appears a message "The disk in the drive isn formatted"..

Now that I've replaced the unit, appears the same mesaage..
I've tried with some dozens of diskettes..and appears the same error..

I would like to know if my system board or something like that has failures..

Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english
=)

Re: Help please

Jose,
first of all replace ribbon cable, and disconnect another fdd (if present). If known good cable will not help, then controller is under suspicion.
In addition you may try to dig into bios setup, maybe floppy controller simpy was disabled?
