BIOS passwords on Pavilion 7940

I am assisting a student who has a Pavilion 7940. We are unable to find a place in the BIOS to set system and boot passwords. Is my observation correct or is there a place to set passwords we don't see?

Re: BIOS passwords on Pavilion 7940

You've got it. There is no provision in that model for a BIOS password. I can't recall anything after the 8100 series that did. One explaination is that too many times tech support gets called due to lost passwords or a practical joker sets the password to whatever. Many people are unable or unwilling to open a machine and change a jumper to clear the password, thus requiring a visit to a repair shop or some other service. That means that those of us who would like to have that option have to suffer for those people who have time and again demonstrated an inablity to work with thier computer.
Don't kid yourself, sense isn't common
