Does a 60GB windows XP local profile tend to be a problem?

Does a 60GB windows XP local profile tend to be a problem?

This user has mysterious windows crashes (blue screens) on his 2-year-old laptop. The domain client profile is stored locally, not on the DC.

My feeling is, windows cannot deal with such a large profile. I don't like to see profiles larger than 5GB.

Thoughts?

Uh, yea... If anything else, it should be taking forever to boot. My opinion is, a 5GB profile is too big.

Re: Does a 60GB windows XP local profile tend to be a problem?

My 1-year-old desktop PC has a 15GB DC profile, but it is way more powerful than this user's laptop. I had never even heard of a 60GB profile, so I thought I would ask.

Not only is this profile huge, but his HDD only has 10% free space because of it. So it is just wrong on several levels.

I will keep this open for awhile for any additional comments.

I would say that the profile has been misconfigured so that (1) desktop is in the profile directory, (2) web cache is in the profile directory, and (3) My Documents is in the profile directory. Easy enough to fix with a couple of registry changes and directory moves.

If this were on a network, the user would never be able to log in.
