I can't find driver for:
- PCI serial port
- PCI simple communications controller
- unknown device
All three need driver to be installed (exclamation mark in device manager; code 28;
PCI bus 0, device 22, function 0)
OS: Windows 7 64-bit
notebook: Elitebook 8540p
Thanks in advance for help.
Best regards,

I recommend you load the Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit drivers for:
Chipset: Install first.

Modem:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/S
Media Card Reader:

USB 3.0 Driver:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/S
If you have a Web Camera that isn't working, here is the driver for that:

See how much this takes care of and please post back if you need any additional help.

I am afraid this doesn't help. I still have
exclamation mark in device manager; code 28;
PCI bus 0, device 22, function 0) for all three devices:
- PCI serial port
- PCI simple communications controller
- unknown device
Thanks in advance for reply.

The only things left that I see are the Intel Management Engine Components Driver and Interface, and the 3D Driveguard.
If you haven't tried those, here they are:

I have a similar problem with a MobileWorstation 8730W running Windows 7 64bit.
I have tried all the recommended actions and the problem is still there.
The only one that did not work is : "Intel Management Engine Component Driver and Interface".
I get the following message : This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software".
Any other suggestion ?

Hi:
In order to pinpoint the problem, please click on the device in the device manager. Then click on the details tab. In the Properties drop down list, select the second item (Hardware ID's). Post the top string of characters you see there.
Those will ID the missing device, and perhaps you just need a different version of the drivers that I posted above since yours is a slightly older model. Or maybe it is a different device altogether.

to fix the PCI\Ven_8086&DEV_1C3D&Subsys driver missing issue - Download http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/S
Intel Management Component Engine Driver (sp54123.exe) - run the download and wait for the fail out component install. Locate the PCI Serial port in Device manager and manually run the install to point to the c:\swsetup\sp52143\drivers\SOL folder location. Run the update and after it runs the COM4 SOL port will be loaded and your Device Manager will be error free.

Hi:
Does your PC have an add on audio card with HDMI out? If so, go into the BIOS, and in the device configuration menu, there will be an onboard audio setting. It will be set to disabled. Change it to Enabled. Save your setting there and then when you exit the BIOS.
Then your audio should be discovered and working.
If you do not have such a video card, and there isn't even a Multimedia Audio Controller device listed in your device manager, then it sounds to me like the onboard audio chip has failed and you will need to purchase a low profile audio card.
The driver you need for the PCI serial port is at the link below.

Hi:
If all of your devices are now present and working in the device manager, there is no need to update the drivers.
However if you want to, you can go to the manufacturer's website and download and install the latest drivers for your video card.
If you want the latest Intel Chipset driver, I have posted it at the link below. The top download is the direct executable file.
Also, run the windows update utility found in your programs menu. If it reports new drivers available, certainly it is OK to install those too.

ok thanks, then I think I leave it this way.
i still have a problem of another kind
I have a HP pcs 2210 all in one printer, no problems under xp
I understood, it has an windows driver now because HP failed to make them voor windows 7 and aint planning to do so (shame on them)
I went over here and installed the help program diagnostic wich helps with an wizzard that helps you through it.
Afterwards I could print a test page from that wizzard en everything looks all right
Now the problem,,, if i go to for example to office's word and print, it wont do it.
If i look at the printer icon it say's there over there, status left blank
When I look in the device manager i vind the printer onder disc drivers, is that normal (no question marks)
What do I have to do to get the thing working again,, any ideas?
Thanks,,, on forehand

Hi:
Unfortunately, I know very little about troubleshooting printer issues--especially ones that may not be Windows 7 capable.
I recommend you copy and paste your printer question on the HP Consumer Support Forum under the Printers section.
