Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) on a 6715b

I intend to install Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) on my 6715b, which currently has Vista Business 32Bit installed.
I wonder if these is any risk doing so, especially if BIOS needs to be updated / changed to allow move from 32Bit to 64Bit operating system.

Re: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) on a 6715b

Hi:

It shouldn't be a problem. The notebook supports 64 bit verisons of Vista, so I wouldn't update the BIOS.

I would make sure there are 64 bit drivers for anything you plug into your notebook such as printers, etc. Or if you connect wirelessly to the printers, that there are 64 bit drivers for them. 32 bit device drivers don't work on 64 bit OS's.

I chose to upgrade my nc6400 to W7 Pro 32 bit, because other than giving the PC a few more MB of memory, I have read that there is very little performance improvement over a 32 bit OS with most of today's 32 bit software and hardware.

A brief article from MS describing the differences, advantages and disadvantages...
