Laserjet 1300 PCL6 driver for Windows 7

I have tried to install the Universal printer driver to my Windows 7 64 bit laptop to connect to my network printer Laserjet 1300 pcl6 which is attached to an XP Pro computer. Didn't work, it installed an icon for a PCL6 printer but it does nothing. Does anyone know if I'm missing something in the steps. Chose dynamic setup so I was able to choose from assorted printers in my home office.
