3600n Windows 7 Drivers?

HP 3600n (Q5987A). Windows 7 Ulimate 64bit(RTM).

I'm using Vista 64bit drivers at the moment.

When printing in "Grayscale", the colors are inverted and the page prints out completely black and the text is white.

When printing in color, documents print properly.

Re: 3600n Windows 7 Drivers?

Try using Windows Xp Drivers, i just formated a new computer on the office to use Windows 7 Ulimate 64bit(RTM)and it's working fine with those

I tested the printing in Grayscale also since that saves money on color toner in the office

Re: 3600n Windows 7 Drivers?

I tried both versions of the 64bit XP drivers on the HP site. (32bit, obviously doesn't work.)

Re: 3600n Windows 7 Drivers?

I have the same issue. I installed Windows7 and installed vista64 driver in grayscale and everything is inverted.

My 3600n has just printed around 100 pages and i found comments that hp is not going to adapt driver to Windows7 64 bit. This is not acceptable, the printer is brand new..and i wont be able to use it.

Re: 3600n Windows 7 Drivers?

Sorry but hp has made a decision to not support "Host" based printers under windows 7. Your printers were very cheap versions of the 3800 or 3505 with a stripped down formatter without a processor. It used the processor in the computer to render the print job. The only solution I see which may work would be to replace the formatter on your printer with one from a 3800 or 3505 or not upgrade to windows 7.

Re: 3600n Windows 7 Drivers?

Not supported? Here we go again. My printer is new too. Can we connect via network? I just got new toner for this printer. If this is a cheap printer, I'd like to know how much the toner is for an expensive printer.

Re: 3600n Windows 7 Drivers?

The 3600 printer is not new. It came out over 3 years ago and was discontinued last year. Windows 7 has not been officially released yet, but it will not be supported. Other versions of this printer 3800 and CP3505 use the same toners and will be supported since their formatters have built in processors.

Re: 3600n Windows 7 Drivers?

This is unbelievable! We purchased multiple 3600n printers just barely a year ago (September, 2008). We have made the decision to upgrade our office computers to Windows 7 (from Vista) and now we find out that our practically still new printers are not compatible.

Re: 3600n Windows 7 Drivers?

outrageous...... no driver for the HP3600 series printer for Windows 7 (32 bit or 64 bit). Don't know why I purchase HP printers if HP does not support them. This is the second printer I've had this happen to.

Re: 3600n Windows 7 Drivers?

HP 3600 printers may not be new to HP but they are new to me. I've had them for about a year. If HP does not support these printers in Windows 7 they will be the last HP printers I purchase. If this is the kind of support I get from HP I will take my business elsewhere.

Re: 3600n Windows 7 Drivers?

I just didn't expect that a semi professional printer from the 3000 serie could be a GDI crap otherwise wouldn't have bought it.

And now next letdown. I will not accept this and kick their a... until the offer my a solution.

I also bought a 3600N for my company and cannot believe that it is not going to be supported in Windows 7.

Re: 3600n Windows 7 Drivers?

I knew when I left HP 4 years ago that it was the right decision (used to work for them). The new HP is not the old I used to praise and brag about.

Re: 3600n Windows 7 Drivers?

What is even more amazing is that HP has not even bothered to respond. I guess these discussion groups are for us to gripe and vent amongst ourselves, and not for HP to react to customer concerns. Total lack of responsibility to customer concerns and how future paycheck will get generated when no one purchases hardware due to lack of support
or interest in addressing issues.
Meanwhile a have a large paper weight and nothing to print with..... urgh!

Re: 3600n Windows 7 Drivers?

Thanks.... not a bad idea..... my comments
--------------------
I own an HP3600DN printer, a bit more than a year and a half old. I recently upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7, only to find out that this semi-professional printer is no longer supported since it was discountinued last year. Mind you, this is not an old printer, it is not a disposable printer (especially after purchasing toner, etc.). It is incomprehensible that HP would not support it's product line with driver support, especially when new operating systems are introduced to the market place and the product is around one year old from a discountinued model aspect. Why would anyone in their right mind buy a product from a vendor who flat out states they will not/do not support the product? Judging from the forums, HP has a rather agravated audience, and figuring that about only 1%-3% of the customers take the time, I imaging HP is earning a lot a bad will.

Here is what someone else posted and says it works.

Hi,

I had luck with the XP drivers (32 bits) and Windows 7 Professional. The Pro version support virtual XP sessions and the HP software ran in the virtual session. I then installed the 3600 printer via the Windows 7 Add Printer and pointed to the HP 3600 folder created under the virtual session. The install hung but after ctrl/alt/del, the printer was listed and worked.

Re: 3600n Windows 7 Drivers?

Hello, I was having a similar issue with our 3600n. Currently running Win7 Home Premium (64-bit). I installed the Vista 64bit drivers for this printer and the printer now prints fine, black and white and color. Did not have to make any virtual xp sessions.

Re: 3600n Windows 7 Drivers?

Thanks.... that did work. Thought I had tried this earlier with no luck, however must not had. The file was unzip on my PC, so ???
Appreciate the help..... you have been more helpful than HP.
Bottom line - Windows XP Pro 64 bit - installed the Vista 64 bit drivers and all "seems" to work fine. My paperweight now prints....

Re: 3600n Windows 7 Drivers?

I also tried the Vista 64 bit driver with Windows 7. B&W was ok, but color printings didn't work. The computer hung up when I treid to print the HP test page.

Re: 3600n Windows 7 Drivers?

I've tried the Vista x64 drivers and got it to work but like others on here, I have the inverted grayscale problem.

I tried the XP x64 drivers and same result.

I would rather not have to install XP 32 bit and run it in XP mode.

So those that got it to work, what exactly did you do?

Re: 3600n Windows 7 Drivers?

IN my case, I "thought" I had tried the Vista Drivers - done so much trying to get this to work, I can remember.
Based on the post yesterday, I downloaded the 64 bit Vista Drivers and installed - local printer and created TC/IP port. Specified I had a disk, went to the folder in which all the files had unzip - it recognized one file (normal), then installed. Printed test page and it printed fine. I printed web pages and email and had not problem. Then printer PDF files and PowerPoint - all color. All seems to work OK with no color issues.
Running Dell XPS Dual Core - 8 gig RAM, 3.2 mHz, Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.
