Two new White Papers for HP-UX Sysadmins.

For your information, there are two new White Papers available at docs.hp.com

The first is
Common Misconfigured HP-UX Resources
available here:
http://www.docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/5580/Misconfigured_Resources.pdf

The second is
JFS Tuning and Performance

available here:
http://www.docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/5576/JFS_Tuning.pdf

Hopefully they may help some of you out there in HP-UX land.

Re: Two new White Papers for HP-UX Sysadmins.

Melvyn,

Thanks for the info. They have also released a new version of the Patch Management guide for HPUX last week. It's got some of the new features of the ITRC in regards to patching in it...

Re: Two new White Papers for HP-UX Sysadmins.

Thanks Melvyn,

the first doc will help me understand memory management and the role of buffer cache in HP-UX better.
I think there will also be need for JFS tuning on some of our servers.
Last but not least, the patching guide also is a great source of help.

Re: Two new White Papers for HP-UX Sysadmins.

Very nice - just finshed reading them both - posted them on our Intranet.

I especially enjoyed the Semaphore section in "Common Misconfigured HP-UX Resources"

Re: Two new White Papers for HP-UX Sysadmins.

Hi there.
That thing is just in time.
We are considering to change the setup of one of our servers. That might a good help.
Thank you very much.

Re: Two new White Papers for HP-UX Sysadmins.

Melvyn,

I have to admit I already downloaded JFS_Tuning sometimes back in September.

I was wondering if anyone has measured the benefit of "Discovered Direct I/O". Any benchmark around ?
