Checking the Compatibility View Setting in IE 10

Hi Guys,

Came across this helpful guide while working on a Webclient issue, thought it might have some use on here.

Issue:

When trying to view the HP Records Manager Web Client using IE 10, the following error message is displayed:

“The minimum supported version for HP Records Manager is Internet Explorer 9, please upgrade to the latest version.”

Scenarios:

When accessing the Web Client using http://localhost/HPRMWebClient, the application loads without any problems. However, when the user enters the machine name in place of localhost in the Web Client URL, the above error message is displayed.

Possible Cause:

This behaviour is possibly caused because the “Display intranet sites in Compatibility View” option is checked in the Compatibility View Settings dialog within IE 10.

When the “Display intranet sites in Compatibility View” is turned on, IE 10 tries to load the HP Records Manager Web Client using IE 7 mode.

Since the HP Records Manager Web Client does not support IE 7, the user is displayed with the message:

“The minimum supported version for HP Records Manager is Internet Explorer 9, please upgrade to the latest version.”

How to resolve this issue:

Follow the below steps to ensure the “Display intranet sites in Compatibility View” option is turned on off in IE 10 before launching the HP Records Manager Web Client.

Steps:

  1. Open Internet Explorer 10
  2. Select Tools -> Compatibility View Settings from the Tools menu.
  3. Compatibility View Settings dialog appears
  4. Ensure the “Display intranet sites in Compatibility View” option is unchecked on the Compatibility View Settings dialog

Re: Checking the Compatibility View Setting in IE 10

You can probably also just access the web client address by putting the WG server's full domain name in there.  This should defeat the simplistic intranet site detection used by IE (anything without a domain suffix in the URL is considered an intranet site).
