Strange Object recognition issue

Hi All

We are facing a very strange jssue. There is a silverlight combobox embedded on the header of the silverlight datagrid/table. When i spy the object it is brings back the properties but as soon as we tried to highlight it is not able to do so.

Any direction in this regard is highly appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Strange Object recognition issue

Hello,

Do you mean highlighting from Object Spy/ OR is not working? Is it throwing any error message or highlighting wrong object in AUT?

Are you able to record/replay successfully on this object?

What is the object's hierarchy in OR?

Also, are you using QTP or UFT?

Regards,

Ana

Re: Strange Object recognition issue

Hello Srav,

Do you have following patches installed? If not, please install them and test again the problem:

1. Critical updates for QTP 11: QTP_00709

2. Cumulative fixes for .NET & Silverlight 5: QTPNET_00120

3. QTPNET_00153: Fix Record and Run Problems in SwfTable, SwfToolbar and SwfCombobox (This is a private patch and you should open a case with HP Support to obtain it)

Please let me know the results.

Regards,

Ana

Re: Strange Object recognition issue

Hi Ana

we have installed the patches 709 and 120. We are having problems only with these combo boxes, where it seems to have been embedded in the silverlight table header.

Not sure if we require 153 patch as we are working with silverlight tables and not flash ones.

Re: Strange Object recognition issue

Hello Srav,

Yes, you might not need it in this case.

But what is the hierarchy of the object when you add it in OR? Also, are you able to highlight it from OR?

Additionally, are you able to record against it and then replay the script successfully?

What script is recorded against this control?

Also, what is the outcome if you try following suggestions to "find" the object from QTP script:

- descriptive programming: http://support.openview.hp.com/selfsolve/document/KM171393

- description object: http://support.openview.hp.com/selfsolve/document/KM203955

(here you use the ChildObjects method for your SlvTable if the OR shows this is the parent of the SlvComboBox control)

Regards,

Ana

Re: Strange Object recognition issue

Hello Srav,

Would you be more specific?

Especially for Description object suggestion with ChildObjects method for this case exactly?

Also, it is important to clarify the following:

- What is the hierarchy of the object when you add it in OR? Also, are you able to highlight it from OR?

- Additionally, are you able to record against it and then replay the script successfully?

- What script is recorded against this control?

Regards,

Ana
