QTP 11 identifies browser as window

Hi, Have installed QTP 11 on a server. Its identifying browser as window. So the scripts are failing.

OS: Windows Server 2008 R2

IE 8

Tried the following solutions:

1. Run qtp as admin - works but don't want this option as it causes some other issues.

2. start qtp first, application next - issue not resolved.

3. Tried with different add ins - issue not resolved.

Whats the solution for this? Any patch release available?

Re: QTP 11 identifies browser as window

Try changing the user access control to Never Notify ( Minimum level ). To change the settings click on below link:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc709691(v=ws.10).aspx

And in your IE , go to Tools-->Internet Options --> Advanced and check If 'Enable third party Browser extensions' check box is checked or not. If it is not, then check it and restart your computer once both the settings are done.

Let me know If it is still not working.

Thanks,

Nanda

Re: QTP 11 identifies browser as window

Hi,

Tried the 2 solutions, without restarting, as it is a server.

This solves the issue.

Thanks.

Re: QTP 11 identifies browser as window

I am having the same problem. Using QTP 11 on win 7 64 bit OS. I installed these patches

QTP_00709, QTP_00699, QTPWEB_00086 but that didn't help either.

I am not able to change UAC settings, as Fidelity doesn't allow that.

Thanks,

Manisha
