Introducing HP Apps 12 and its implications for the Future of Testing

HP ALM Unified Automated Collaborative.pngToday marks the introduction of our comprehensive Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) and testing suite HP Apps 12.  HP Apps 12 caters to a spectrum of stakeholders and encompasses exciting new enhancements for a unified ALM experience. This new testing solution enables enterprises worldwide to deliver applications that power their businesses faster than ever before with first-rate quality and performance.

In a business environment that demands the delivery of unprecedented quality along with automation and virtualization, Apps 12 represents a remarkable end-user experience. Our new application looks at the big picture of the testing environment and end-to-end business processes in order to design an effective yet change-ready testing application. The ongoing influx of new technology processes and developments demands that an application be ready for business agility with faster time to market. Hence, HP Apps 12 allows for enterprises to test more, test faster, test sooner and test continuously.

The rapid and changing influx of new technologies and processes brings greater complexity and demands for shorter testing cycles. To prepare testing teams for business ability and faster time to market, application delivery management is all about harnessing the value of digital innovation to promote business outcomes – leveraging an organization’s existing investment in software applications with mobile, social, big data, and cloud technologies.  Additionally, Agile Delivery processes are utilized to provide continuous delivery to speed up software delivery and minimize the impact of change.  These practices increase automation, streamline testing needs and provide businesses with new channels of revenue and investment.

Achieving the delicate equilibrium between speed and quality is essential in today’s digital business landscape.  HP Apps 12 brings together an exciting array of new and enhanced capabilities delivering velocity and quality for the New Style of Application Delivery.  The new application brings together a conscious effort to improve testing practices for aggressive automation to add value as early as possible in the business lifecycle.  By employing enhancements that allow for increased automation, usability and leveraging frameworks save time spent on test creation and maintenance. HP Apps 12 adds virtualized environments for testing unavailable services, and creates a unified and comprehensive testing application.  Watch this short video to get the essence of the value of Apps 12.

Read on as Apps 12 unfolds a wide array of innovations designed for the testing environment and the future of testing:

Unleash the power of the cloud for performance testing:

Cloud meter.pngAs applications become more dynamic, complex and distributed across multi-layered and tiered teams, HP cloud testing increases testing effectiveness and leverages unparalleled platforms and infrastructures.  Indeed, the cloud has become a fundamental element for the future of testing business’ environment.  It provides on-demand flexibility, enhanced collaboration, greater levels of efficiency and reduced time to market for business applications. Bringing mobile to testers and the Future of Testing

clip board.pngInnovation is key for accelerating growth and providing competitive differentiation.  HP Apps 12 brings an array of new application software and social tools in order for users to stay competitive.  HP Sprinter’s manual testing solution simplifies and expedites manual testing while increasing cross-team collaboration.  With HP Sprinter now brought to mobile applications testing, manual testers can more rapidly step through, author, annotate, upload tests to ALM, and manage defects when running tests on mobile devices. This dramatically improves defect communication to develop and facilitate fast remediation.  Apps 12 also expands the footprint of mobile performance and functional test automation, both functional and performance, with an array of new capabilities. These capabilities deliver mobile testing your way—on premise, with cloud-based devices, and through techniques such as proxy recording and better emulation.

Continuous and Future Testing with Fast-Moving Development Teams

HP’s approach to functional testing allows IT organizations to automate faster and simpler by enabling functional and load testing to keep pace with the Agile Sprint.  As delivery times have increased tremendously, testing processes must keep pace with manual processes.  Apps 12 contributes tremendously to the future of testing environment by infusing HP’s functional and performance testing solutions with a high degree of automation. These include a unified interface for building and managing automations of all types (HP UFT 12), eliminating the effort and learning involved in using multiple tools, and the ability to capture and leverage network traffic and behavior for better automated tests.   Additionally, HP Service Virtualization 3.5, is fully integrated into HP functional and load testing. Launched with Apps 12, it utilizes virtual services and integrates the behavior of the network through pre-configured integration with Shunra Network Virtualization, soon to be HP Network Virtualization.

Without exception, HP Apps 12 balances the demand for faster delivery, with unprecedented velocity and quality.  From enhanced mobile and continuous testing, to flexible delivery, it is an application that delights and changes the user experience.  In the coming weeks, be sure to learn more about our exciting new launch at the following:
