opcmsga not running

Hi,

I had installed the HP OVO agent into one of the server and I see that the component the opcmsga is not running.  When I had tried to check the status of the certificate installed, I got the below output:

C:\Users\Administrator>ovcert -list
+---------------------------------------------------------+
Keystore Content
+---------------------------------------------------------+
Certificates:
+---------------------------------------------------------+
Trusted Certificates:
+---------------------------------------------------------+

The output for ovcoreid is:

972c3b22-9030-7559-0699-94382fe32786.

Please help me proceed.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Jecintha

Re: opcmsga not running

Jecinta, you'll have to refer to certificate Cook book.. Follow the below steps.. 1)on node run ovcert -certreq 2)on managament server run : ovcm -listpending you will be able to see the certificate request. run ovcm -grant ID(ID you'll get from ovcm -listpending command)

Re: opcmsga not running

Hello OVO Documents,

Thanks for the reply.  However when I run ovcm -listpending, I see no requests.  I tried doing bbcutil -ping servername, and the output is as under:

(bbc-288) status=eServiceError coreID= bbcV= appN= appV= conn=0
time=1125 ms

There seems to be communication problem between the management server and the managed node.  Request you to help me resolve the same.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Jecintha

Re: opcmsga not running

Hello.

First of all verify which certificate server it is sending the request to (run this on your "to be" managed node):

ovconfget

Check the "[sec.*]" name spaces - particularly both settings under "[sec.core.auth]".

Re: Error while setting manager

Hello ,

You need check few things...
1. I see CoreID has changed after re-installing of agent on the to be managed node , so you need to ensure this change is reflected in management server for that particular node as well.

2. Once this done, check if there is any certificate request from the managed node and with correct core id . If there is one, try granting and see if it helps resolves the issue.

If not then on the managed node , check the following...
XPL settings ( use ovconfget )
Ensure correct values of your management server are present under :
sec.core.auth , sec.cm.client

Once the above parameters are checked, you can trigger a certifcate request. See if this has reached OM Mgmt Server.

Note : I am assuming 383 port is opened both way and communication b/w mgmt srv and mgd node is working. You can check this with telnet .

Hope this helps.

Re: opcmsga not running

Hello All,

Added to what  was mentioned and once you have the correct certificated in place an if the same problem occurs please check the status of this process with the command:

 ovc -status -level 8

Example from a running process:

opcmsga       OVO Message Agent                 AGENT,EA     (4744)   Running

-> START attempted at          Wed Jan 29 15:10:40 2014

-> Entered STARTING state at   Wed Jan 29 15:10:40 2014

-> Entered STARTED state at    Wed Jan 29 15:10:43 2014

You can also obtain more information by looking at the file system.txt.

Further information can be obtained by starting this component using the verbose option.

 ovc -start opcmsga -verbose

Hope this information helps.

Thanks and Regards,

Carlos Pinto

Re: opcmsga not running

Hello,

I think, reason of the problem is port 383.It must be open both server.(from management server to managed server-from managed server to management server)

You can control this the following command:

From management server:

->telnet 'managed server' 383

From managed server:

->telnet 'management server' 383

I hope, it will be help to you.

Re: Error while setting manager

Hello

Just a sanity check question - from the name you have specified for the OM management server

WIN-B3VJ7MKVBUP.WIN-B3VJ7MKVBUP.COM

it looks like you have a non-domain instalaltion. Can you confirm this?

Does this name resolve from the node and also from the manager to the right IP address (both forward and reverse lookup using nslookup)?

If you have the non-domain installation then make sure that the name of the OM management server and the node resolves properly on both machines for only then agent and server can talk properly.

Hope this helps.

Re: opcmsga not running

HI,

also check whether telnet service is enabled at node , because only then you can check the port access, otherwise port might be opened but cmd will show as close.
So better ask network team to open two way 383 port.

hth,

Re: Certificates not getting generated

If its not working then manually generate the certificate on the mgmt server and then import the certificate on the agent ..

Generating the certificate on the mgmt server :

ovcm -issue -file C:\agent_certificate -name <agent_node_name> -pass <Password> -coreid <agent_coreid>

Importing the Certificate on the agent :

Copy the agent_certificate file ( under C drive ) from the mgmt server generated in the above step to the local drive of the agent machine and execute the below command ..

ovcert -importcert -file <Path_where_you_copied_and_agent_certificate_file> -pass <PAssword_Which_You_Gave_Earlier>

Hope this helps you.
