OVOW DBSPI9-26

I have an Oracle cluster with the db instance named codb.
On the active node, I keep receiving the OVOW message:

DBSPI9-26: Logfile not found for instance 'codb'

When I check on the active node, I find this file there:
/app/oracle/ora102/admin/codb/bdump/alert_codb1.log

I wonder if the number '1' in the instance name is causing the problem? Where did it come from?
How can I tell the DBSPI to look for this file insted of alert_codb.log?

Vasja Jancic.

Re: OVOW DBSPI9-26

1.export current config using dbspicfg -e
do u find a line with LOGFILE entry there?

2. if not include a line to resemble as below

while u import the dbspicfg settings, include the line

ORACLE
DATABASE CONNECT "hp_dbspi/password@local_sid"
LOGFILE "exact path"

3. re import using dbspicfg -i <

4.chcek using dbspicao -l
this will return the logfile being monitored

Re: OVOW DBSPI9-26

Hello

there is change request in progress (State: Awaiting Decision )

QXCR1000744048 Oracle SPI should be able to handle rolling Oracle alert log file

Customer Symptoms Notes
(Created on 12/03/2007 18:51:43)
Customer visible
OVOW 7.50 with DBSPI 10.30

The Oracle SPI logfile monitoring fails with the following error:

DBSPI9-26: Logfile not found for instance ''

When checking the logfile on the node itself, it is called:

/app/oracle/ora102/admin/codb/bdump/alert_1.log

i.s.o.

/app/oracle/ora102/admin/codb/bdump/alert_.log

The DBSPI should be able to deal with Oracle RAC instances using logfiles alert_1.log,
alert_2.log, ....

igor

If this fixed with DBSPI 10.40?

MGMTSV OVOU HP/UX = OVOU 8.29
Managed Nodes AIX = 5L 5.3
AIX OV agent = 8.17 HTTPS

Re: OVOW DBSPI9-26

We are using OMU 8.2 on HP-UX 11.2x

There is a Oracle RAC (on AIX) that we are monitoring but i keep getting the message

"DBSPI9-26: Logfile not found for instance 'xxxx'. from the source

"Message:DBSPI-Messages:DBSPI9-26: Logfile not found for instance '%s'"

When i check dbspicao -l i get the logfile path that is configured using dbspicfg.sh

I also verified the output of "dbspicfg -e"
and all the details provided there are correct. I even tried logging in to SQL Plus with the credentials configured and it works.

dbspicfg -e
SYNTAX_VERSION 4

ORACLE

HOME "/oracle/apps/product/10.2.0"
DATABASE "xxxx1" CONNECT "HP_DBSPI/pass@xxxx1"
LOGFILE "/archive/admin/xxxx1/bdump/alert_xxxx1.log"
LISTENER "LISTENER_xxxx1" CONNECT ""

wht else can be causing this?

Re: OVOW DBSPI9-26

I have the same problem too.. I tried changing the path in the local.cfg then import it. When I check it using dbspicfg -e, it give the correct path. But when I check it a few minutes later, it goes back to the old path set. :(
