OVO/W WMI documentation

Could someone please direct me to the FULL ovo/w wmi documentation.

Spec. I'm looking for an event on node state changes (no - not service object changes).

Thanx in advance ...

Re: OVO/W WMI documentation

Use CIM Studio - it shows the objects and the hierarchy..

Status of nodes and services is contained in OV_ElementStatus.

I use WBEMTest which is OK ... but what I'm looking for is HP's complete doc. on this matter.

Re: OVO/W WMI documentation

No, WBEMTEST is NOT ok.. it doesn't show all the attributes or the heirarchy.

All you need for documentation on how to call things is in the WMITools.exe package from microsoft. Part of wmitools is CIM Studio - which is the WMI Schema Browser.

Connect to root\hewlettpackard\openview\data, and you will immediately see the schema.

Search with cim studio for Ov_ElementStateChange, and you'll see that this is an event.. it will tell you about node or service status changes - internally, status of a node is no different.

To demonstrate, I've attached a script that gets the status directly as well..

Again, a node/node group/service status change are all the SAME EVENT. You have to filter the results to get what you want.

Re: OVO/W WMI documentation

Hi Stefan,

Refer to the foll. documents:

http://devresource.hp.com/drc/resources/wmi_manage_part1/index.jsp

http://devresource.hp.com/drc/resources/wmi_manage_part2/index.jsp

http://devresource.hp.com/drc/resources/wmi_manage_part3/index.jsp

http://devresource.hp.com/drc/resources/wmi_th/main.jsp

http://devresource.hp.com/drc/resources/wmi_th/wmi_hp.jsp

http://devresource.hp.com/drc/topics/OpenView.jsp

Once you have exposed management data using WMI, you can choose from a rich set of tools for analyzing this data. These tools include WMI extensions to Visual Studio .NET, WMI Object Browser, WMI CIM studio, WMI event registration tool, WMI event viewer, Performance (Windows administrative tools), WMI Tester (WBEMTest.exe) and more.

HTH.
