Number of 1939 messages in active-message-table

Hi,

We are receiving the below messages,

Warning 11:08:16 09/15/13
HP Operations Manager     OpC
Number of 1939 messages in active-message-table is near to limit 2000. (OpC40-280)

I would like to know which Node triggerd the most number of alarms. Is there any command to check it.

We are using OMU9.x version.

Regards

Sandeep

Re: Number of 1939 messages in active-message-table

Hello Sandeep,

The following command is very helpful to identify the node or nodes and message groups associated with the messages.

Both Hist and Active will be listed in the report.

This can help identifying if a particular node or group of nodes is generating the most of the messages and thus will help trying to isolate the issue:

#/opt/OV/bin/OpC/call_sqlplus.sh   msg_statistic

In example:

OVO Report

                                   ----------

Report Date:  dd-MMM-yy

Report Definition:

User:          opc_adm

Report Name:   Message Statistics

Report Script: msg_statistic.sql

Node Name                                Message Group      Severity #Active

---------------------------------------- ------------------ -------- ----------

abc1.hp.net                 OpC                critical          2

                                         OpC                normal            1

                                         OpenView           critical          1

abc2.hp.net                   OpC                warning           1

abc3.hp.net                    OpC                warning           3

Node Name                                Message Group      Severity #Marked

---------------------------------------- ------------------ -------- ----------

Node Name                                Message Group      Severity #History

---------------------------------------- ------------------ -------- ----------

The following are example commands with the correct syntax to acknowledge active messages in HPOM (OMU, OML)

#opcack -c -u <user_name> -e <filter_name>=<value>

To explain the options, (this can be found in the man page for opcack):

-c: non interactive mode

-u: user name

-e: filter criteria

Possible  filter  names  are:   msg_text,   severity,

                         time_from,   time_to,  last_time_from,  last_time_to,

                         unmatched, node_name, node_list, msg_group,  applica-

                         tion, object, ownership, CMA:<CMA-name>.

i.e:

#opcack -c -u opc_adm -e severity=normal

#opcack -c -u opc_adm -e severity=warning

#opcack -c -u opc_adm -e severity=critical

other examples:

opcack -c -u john_hp -e severity=warning

opcack -c -u john_hp -e severity=normal

opcack -c -u john_hp -e severity=minor

opcack -c -u john_hp -e severity=major

opcack -c -u john_hp -e severity=critical

opcack -c -u opc_adm -e node_name=abc1.hp.net
