How to change Oracle client?

[ Edited ]

I installed Oracle client home under named client_1 and now I need to change to client.  I installed a new Oracle binary as client and reconfigure midas_env.sh and patchlog.xml point to the new Oracle client.

the processes couldn't start all....

OMU Administration UI Server adminui aborted
OMU Action Manager opcactm aborted
OMU BBC Config Adapter opcbbcdist aborted
OMU Cert. Server Adapter opccsad aborted
OMU Display Manager opcdispm aborted
OMU Forward Manager opcforwm aborted
OMU Message Manager opcmsgm aborted

Oracle client is just a connector, how come I can't configure it to a new one and/or patch it?  If I point it back to the old Oracle_home client then it works.  If I want to use a new Oracle_home client, do I need to rebuild adminUI and alll the agents again?

the log complained about

Failed creating ServiceEngine instance because of: [Failed to connect to the AF_UNIX socket '/var/opt/OV/sockets/OpC/opcsvcm': Connection refused

when I moved opcsvcm to opcsvcm_1... and restart opcsv -start, it takes forever and the log has,

0: ERR: Fri Jan 24 13:50:05 2014: ovcd (19590/1116039488): (ctrl-94) Component 'opcforwm' exited after very short runtime, therefore it will not be automatically restarted. Use 'ovc -start opcforwm'.

Hello,

You re-configured the AdminUI, but you will also need to make changes for the OMU server itself.

There is a section "Upgrading the Oracle Database" in the latest OMU Release Notes, e.g. for 9.10 on Linux:

http://support.openview.hp.com/selfsolve/document/KM00640441/binary/HPOM_9.11_ReleaseNotes_Linux_Ed1...

If your platform is Solaris or HP-UX, please use the ReleaseNotes for that platform.

That should cover all the necessary steps (especially changing symbolic links).

Best regards,

Tobias

thanks for your information. Too late, I deinstalled and reinstalled the adminUI.  I have faced the problem when open the url.  Thanks to my coworkers, they tried to worked around with me and we found out that we need to update OMU via remove the symbolic links of libclntsh.so * and rebuilt them.

Again, thank you for update the link.

Re: Re:How to change Oracle client?

can you help? After changing the adminUI's admin password and patch the later version.  I can't log on any more.

the problem is (Possible reasons: 1. Server has not started up yet. 2. License has expired (check with ./midas.sh analyze). 3. User has to be in a user group that has a user role assigned.  4. Incorrect use name/password)

thanks,
