How to change Internal messages without opcmsg policy

Hello Experts,

As per my knowledge, all the internal messages are go into either "OpC" or "OpenView" message groups. Is it possible to change the message groups to say "Test" without using the opcmsg policy on the server? Is there any setting in the OMU management server where we can define the default message groups for all the internal messages?

In other words, where are OpC and OpenView message groups are defined and how to change them?

Thanks in advance.

Regards

Praveen...

Without using the opcmsg ??.... then its better to go for the Correlation Composer ..

If you want to use the opcmsg , then setting , OPC_INT_MSG_FLT variable on the agent would help you out.

Re: How to change Internal messages without opcmsg policy

Hello.

As far as the management server goes, the names of message groups for internal messages are stored in the message catalog file.  However even if you would change them it would not do you much good because it also matters where the tool that generated the internal message got them from (say on a node, so the agent processes).  This means you would need to modify all tools to generate a message using the same string, otherwise behaviour would be inconsistent.

There is no mechanism to modify the names used.

Thanks Goran and Vidyasagar...

So we can change the default internal message groups like OpC and OpenView through ECS? Could you please provide me some more details/documents if you have.

Re: How to change Internal messages without opcmsg policy

No, you can't do that.  Using ECS you can change several attributes of a message, including message group, but if you do this, it will no longer be treated as an internal message.

Re: How to change Internal messages without opcmsg policy

Thanks Goran,

Its not important for me whether the message remains internal or not. All I want to do is, change the message group of all the internal messages to some other group without using opcmsg policy.  Another question, can we delete the message text and add our own message text for internal messages and move it to different msg group using ECS?

Thanks in advance,

Re: How to change Internal messages without opcmsg policy

Hello.

In that case sure, you can do this with ECS or by writing an application using API-s.  You can also use Message regrouping to modify message group only.

Re: How to change Internal messages without opcmsg policy

Hello Praveen,

If you only want to change the Message Group, then the easiest way is to use a Regroup Condition

(look for "All Regroup Conditions" in the OMU 9.x AdminUI). That allows to change message group

and service name.

Best regards,

Tobias
