Error executing opcagt command.

Hi all,
We have win2k3 server, with windows OVO agent 8.60.7. we are not able to execute the opcagt command.Below is the error:
C:\Documents and Settings\sha2237>opcagt
(ctrl-21) Communication error when executing 'Status' method.
(xpl-118) recv() on '127.0.0.1:1051' failed.
(WIN-10054) An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.

Following are the steps that i have tried but still no luck.
-opcinfo file was missing the OPC_IP_ADDRESS entry so i made that entry.
-Restarted the agent.
-bbcutil from both mgmt server and node is not giving any output.
-ovcodautil -n nodename -ping gives output as CODA failed and ovbbccb is running successfully.

Below is the ouptput of ovconfget command

make sure the below information set correctly,
MANAGER=ntapph2910m00.ho.nmfco.com
MANAGER_ID=3d8f6ed2-fb68-7546-14b2-c6a3b650c6b5

from the node, run ovcoreid to check if the core id is set properly, and also ovcert -list to verify the certificate
System.txt will be a helpful if you shared it

    Re: Error executing opcagt command.

    Hello

    Is port 383 blocked in that node? Can you check for it looks like the local loopback is going to a different port and so there may be firewall in place. If there is a firewall configure the agent as per the OM Firewall Configuration Guide and hopefully that will sort this issue.

    Hope this helps.

    Re: Error executing opcagt command.

    Hi mohmd,
    ovcoreid command was successful on the node.
    ovcert -list displays all the trusted certificates on the node but node certificate was not present. I tried ovcert -certreq but could not trigger the request.

    Hi Robert,
    bbcutil -ping localhost gave me the ssl error and no every field in the output was blank.

    Hi Ram,
    i am not sure how to check whether the 383 port is blocked on the node, infact i dont the command to check that.

    Attached is the part of system.txt

    you have a major issue with your SSL communications, thus correcting this issue is a must, you have to reconfigure that agent to communicate with your correct Mgmt server as well as your Cert Mgmt Server, and perhaps you have to reissue a new Cert for this agent

    Re: Error executing opcagt command.

    Hello,

    just to verify:
    You are on a node/agent and not on the OM Server ;)
    The agent does not have a valid certificate.
    But you have the following lines in your configuration (ovconfget):
    [sec.cm.certificates]
    CERT_INSTALLED=TRUE
    LAST_CERT_UPDATE=Thu Dec 10 15:46:04 2009
    LAST_TRUSTED_CERT_UPDATE=Fri Jun 25 17:15:20 2010

    I would recommend to remove the certificates on the node, delete these config lines (using ovconfchg) and retrigger a certificate request.

    Re: Error executing opcagt command.

    Hi,
    You can remove the certificates by using:
    ovcert -remove

    You can list the alias by using:
    ovcert -list

    | Certificates:
    | bd71a842-e639-754c-1163-e142242a809a

    bd71a842-e639-754c-1163-e142242a809a <-- this is the alias

    You can also run opcactivate to configure the node
    %ovinstalldir%\bin\opc\install\opcactivate -srv yourOMserver -cert_srv yourOMserver -force_config_mode

    Hi Ram,
    I think the role of firewall and the security software will come into picture only when opcragt is not running remotely, but my main concern is that why opcagt is not running locally on the node itself(OVC as well).To my surprise ovconfget, ovcoreid, ovcert etc are running quite well.

    Re: Error executing opcagt command.

    1. Check if you have correct hostname IP entry in hosts file.

    2. Server fqdn maybe changed by server team without informing(Happens mostly).

    3. Kill all process of agent. Delete coda files and temp queue files. Cleanstart the agent. That can be a workaround.

    Re: Error executing opcagt command.

    Take a note of the templates on that node and REINSTALL the agent.

    Such kind of trouble shooting teaches a lot, but when coming to production envirnment I generally Reinstall and see if the problem still exists.
