Convert MIB to OMU Policy without NNM

So, now that we have OMU9 without all the wonderful NNM stuff, what is HPs recommendation for converting a vendors MIB file into a usable OMU Policy?

I have been hunting around and have found no way to do this so far short of purchasing NNM and installing it someplace in order to create a trapd.conf and then run ovtrap2opc to create the Policies.

I would love to know what folks are doing who do not own NNM.

Thanks
Les

Re: Convert MIB to OMU Policy without NNM

Hi Les,

There is a tool that came with OMW installation, called MIB2POLICY
this tool has the same functionality as OPC2

this tool is avialable on OMW9:\x64\Packages\FoundationCore\Contrib

You can install it on Windows Machine and you can create the policies as required and then upload it to your unix machine.

Re: Convert MIB to OMU Policy without NNM

We have the MIB2POLICY.BAT file from windows. That is sort of the standard cheat.

I checked out OMU server (Solaris 5.10 OM 9.02) a few days ago and did not find it. After the response above, I checked again.

    ls /opt/OV/contrib
    OpC OprWsInc OprWsTool ecs perl

    no mib2policy
So I ran a find on the entire system. It is not on our servers. So this prompts the question, what version of OMU9 do you have?

    Thanks
    Les

    Goran,

Want to send me a copy of your mib2policy file? I am dying to take a look at how it is written.

    Thanks

    Hi Les,
I searched on http://support.openview.hp.com/selfsolve/manuals and found that the utility is available with OMU 9.10 Solaris version as part of the new utilities available with that version.

    Hi Les,

If you can not install this version on your system (sure it is not easy to upgrade).

You can download OMU Solaris 9.1 source DVD Evalution and hopefully you will find it as a installable package.
