re : moving of HPUX 11i to HPUX 11iv3

Hi Guys,

       Can anyone advice, I have a old server rp 4440 install with hpux 11i v1 . I have another server a rx2660 install with hpux 11i v3 . Can I know what are the files that I need to transfer from rp4440 in order to get back the user account setting, environment , security , and etc. Kindly advice??

hi ,

 

You should transfer below files - 

/etc/passwd, /etc/shadow

below directory also

/tcb  

 

You may need to reset user's passwords. it's most likely that old encryption won't work here

Hi

Yes u need to copy the group file and user home directories for there file

-- You can update to HP-UX 11i v3 from HP-UX 11i v2 (B.11.23). Updating from any other HP-UX
OS directly to HP-UX 11i v3 is not supported. You must first update to an HP-UX 11i v2 Operating
Environment. If you want to migrate from HP-UX 11i v1 to HP-UX 11i v3 by updating, see the
HP-UX 11i v2 Installation and Update Guide for information on how to update from HP-UX 11i v1
to HP-UX 11i v2 first. --
