Re: ScanJet 4200c HPPRSCLT page fault sending scanned pix to Adobe PhotoDeluxe HE 4.0

Hi Larry,

This error message is caused by the same file(s) being either missing,
not enabled, or of the wrong version or size.

Please follow the steps listed below for the appropriate operating
system.

=== Windows 98 ===

In MSCONFIG.EXE make sure that HPSCANMonitor and StillImageMonitor are
checked. Restart the system, and reinstall the HP Precisionscan LTX
software.

1. Close the error message.
2. Click Start.
3. Click Run, and type, MSCONFIG.EXE.
4. Click OK.
5. Select Startup.
6. Check the boxes titled, HPSCANMonitor and StillImageMonitor. (If
StillImage Monitor is not listed it will need to be extracted from
the Windows 98 CD-ROM as follows:)

a. Insert the Windows 98 installation CD-ROM.
b. Find the stimon.exe file using System File Checker.
c. Copy stimon.exe to the windows\system folder.
d. Add the stimon.exe shortcut to the Startup Group.
e. Click Start, Settings, Taskbar, and Start Menu.
f. Chose the Start Menu Programs tab and select Add.
g. Browse to the windows\system folder and select stimon.exe.
h. Click Open and Next.
i. From the Create Shortcut window, select Startup Program Group
from the Select Program Folder.
j. Click Next. Click Finish.
k. Click OK.

NOTE: The install browser may state that the software is already
installed; continue with the installation.

7. Restart the computer. The HP Precisionscan LTX scanner will open
without the error message.

=== Windows Me ===

In MSCONFIG.EXE, ensure that StillImageMonitor is checked. Restart the
system, and reinstall the HP Precisionscan LTX software.

1. Close the error message.
2. Click Start
3. Click Run, and type, MSCONFIG.EXE.
4. Click OK.
5. Click Startup.
6. Check the box titled, StillImageMonitor
7. Click Apply, OK, and Yes to restart.

NOTE: If StillImageMonitor is not listed, go to the Start and
Search. Select For Files and Folders, which will bring up
the Search Results box. In the Name field, type, STIMON.
Make sure the Look In line has the following: Local Hard
Drives (C:). Select Search. In the Results window to the
left, STIMON should be displayed. Make sure it is in the
C:\Windows\System folder and that the file size is 28KB.
Click STIMON and its information will appear in the box
above. Close the Search Results window. Go to Start, and
Shut Down, and choose to Restart the Computer.

8. Reinstall the HP Precisionscan LTX scanner software.
9. Restart the computer. The HP Precisionscan LTX scanner will open
without the error message.

Best of luck.

Sincerely,
Veera
