The ScanJet 3770 goes back to at least 2004 so it's not likely that a Windows 7 driver will ever be available. It is not on the list of scanners supported or soon to be supported on Windows 7 see:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docnam
The site says:
"If no drivers are listed in the Microsoft Windows 7 section then the scanner is not officially supported by HP. Drivers listed in the Microsoft Windows Vista section may work in Microsoft Windows 7 but are not guaranteed to work."
If you haven't already tried the Vista driver, you might give it a try. Otherwise, you'll need a replacement. I had to buy a new scanner when I went to Windows XP. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Just encountered the same problem. I downloaded the Vista X86_64 driver (http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/S
The installation gives a failure when installing the supporting software, but the driver is correctly installed.
After that I use the opensource XnView (see e.g. http://portableapps.com/apps/graphics_pictures/xnv

So I downloaded the Vista 64 bits drivers for my Win7 setup; it is no longer called "Vista X86_64 driver"; I suppose we have HP to thank for changing the page contents. It complained but then continued (as mentioned). When I press the buttons on the scanner it now starts up the Windows 7 scanning program; both buttons performing the same function. After it scans, it wants to import the scanned file with no indicationn what it is actually doing? Presumably saving the JPG image to some directory in My Documents (judging from what happens). Why is that called "Importing" rather than Saving? Why should I use the XnView program? Just because it is Twain compatible? Will my other programs that a Twain compatible work now? Some clarity besides "Works perfect" would be helpful. Like"works perfect doing what?"

Install win vista 64 bit driver if you have win 7 64 bit: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/S
Then install pdf scanner software: http://www.koma-code.de/index.php?option=com_conte
Both are free to download. Works perfect. Good luck. Tina www.tinaslondonguesthouse.co.uk

The same govno! I've used the driver from Vista and it works for Windows 7. But I have the firm CD with proper scanner software. That software do not want to install, says "This OS is not supported". And the default Windows is awful!
Don't know how to scan now...
P.S. HP soset

Hi Doug,
Does your words mean that I have to buy a new scanner when a new Windows has been released? How about a printer, if I had?
Does HP really think this is a right marketing?
As for me, I throw out HP printer some years ago and migrated to another firm. And the scanner 3770 is stiil good and serves me.
If you forse me to buy a new scanner whereas the current one works good, do you think it will be HP again? Of course, no! it will be definitelly another firm! And I will completely forget about HP as a brand.
What I need now, is to turn off the artificial restriction for {Win200, WinME, WinXP} in the installer. I beleive if I could install that firmware on my Win7, the firmware would work and serve my. And you have broken my last positive thinking about HP. Think about it with your developers and mareting.
