I had an XP machine using the HP Scanjet 4070 Photosmart Scanner; I currently have a Windows 7 machine and I need the windows 7 drivers for the HP Scanjet 4070 Photosmart Scanner to work. Please advise.

Sorry to say that the Scanjet 4070 is an older product (2004) and therefore is not supported by Windows 7. The XP drivers will not work on Windows 7. A great replacement is the HP Scanjet G3110 which supports Windows 7.

Here is another alternative: Windows 7 users can use the Windows Vista full feature software created for this product as a workaround to obtain full feature scanning software functionality. Go to Install Vista scan software on a Windows 7 computer using the Program Compatibility feature in Windo... (c03129972) (in English).
I hope this helps!

Dear HP CEO:
My first HP product was an HP65. There have been other handhelds then meters and a number of computers and laptops (until you merged in Compaq "tech", the death blow to your PC business). My last HP products will be the Scanjet 4070, and the HP 1012 and the HP D7260.
Due to your execrable "work around" the scanjet I'll have to replace now that I'm on Win 7 Pro, and it won't be an HP product. The 1012 will limp along for a bit but is also on the replace soon list for the same pitiful reason, along with all of the expensive replacement cartridges. The D7260 (your last decent product?) won't be far behind because your ink cartridges are getting too darned expensive to be worth it.
The final nail in your company coffin as far as I'm concerned is your lack of support of the existing equipment your loyal customers purchased. not so long ago. Sorry, but it's just not that hard to update drivers to stay current with MS O/S's ... and keep the same features. Which says a great deal about what y'all think of us. A company that won't support its loyal customers no longer deserves our support; at least not mine.
I'm glad I don't have HP stock.
