RGS Receiver window exits after login

[ Edited ]

I have RGS 5.4.5 installed on a WS blade running win7x64; my receiver system is running WinXPx32 SP3. When I connect, I get the login screen just fine; I hit CTRL-ALT-END to get a login prompt, but as soon as I enter my login/password, the screen goes away. I know I'm getting logged in correctly because if I have a remote desktop session going, it gets terminated.

The other bit of strange behavior is that the "show desktop" functionality on the XP box no longer works correctly; if I clear the desktop with "show desktop" everything is minimized as you'd expect, but if I click on any of the minimized taskbar icons, *everything* is restored, rather than just the program in question.

It finally occurred to me to look in the log file on the receiver:

Re: RGS Receiver window exits after login

Try this:

On the receiver, check the "Prompt for username and password" box in the Advanced tab and try to connect.

If this fixes the issue, it is beacuse the receiver uses SSPI (Security Support Provider Interface) to authorize the connection. If you then attempt to login with credentials that differ from the programmatic authorization, you are disconnected.

I suspect the show desktop behavior is not related to RGS

Re: RGS Receiver window exits after login

I installed the receiver on another system (Win7) and I had the same behavior until I turned on the "prompt for..." box; on the first system (XP), it craps out either way.
