User defined fields able to be updated on previous requirements

I have created a number of requirements and now I have added some user fields to the Requirements definition in customisation.  I am not able to update the new user fields within the older requirements and they do not show up in the detail view although they do show in the summary view.  Is this normal or do we need to tweek something?

once creating the user fields in Project entities.Navigate to Requirement types and pick each type under "Types".

If any field needs to be published to interface,select that field from "Not in Type" and move it to "In Type" by using " > "--click save.Upon logout and login changes will be applied.
