Quality Center and Windows 7

I'm using Windows 7, and failing to connect to Quality Center.

When I use Internet Explorer, the browser attempts to install Mercury Quality Center Version 9.0, and then I get a blank page. When I try the same URL in QCExplorer, I get a “Cannot find server.” Message. I’d appreciate any ideas.

Go to the following address and download and install the Client manually.

Re: Quality Center and Windows 7

Excellent, that worked. Thank you very much Percy.

I'd been thrashing on this for a while. I guess browser security restrictions prevented the add-in installation.

Re: Quality Center and Windows 7

We tried installing QCclient.msi on Windows 7 here, but it kept coming up with errors - "Unable to register" various components.

QCexplorer works ok as a workaround.

Re: Quality Center and Windows 7

Hi NCM,

If you are Administrator you can login to the application servers where the ALM is installed.

Goto Start -> Run -> Type Services.msc

The above action will display all the services that are running on the application servers.

You need to start "HP Application Life Cycle Management" Service and access the ALM URL, this time you should be able to access the URL.

Regards,

Srihari

Re: Quality Center and Windows 7

Hi NCM,

Also ALM 11 cannot be hosted on windows 7 client machine.

You need to install it on the application server as per the compatibility(supported matrix) list provided by vendor.

If your installation is un-successfull then also you will be getting this error message.

Regards,

Srihari

@Farhan
What exactly are you looking for? This thread was discussing difficulties for users trying to connect to an existing QC server. Do you have a QC server? Are you having problems connecting to it?

Re: Quality Center and Windows 7

Are you using the 32 bit version of the IE browser? QC is a 32 bit application, and must be run in the 32 bit version of IE.
