Re: QC Sense Monitoring Recommendations

Hello Joe22,

sure - here is the QC sense configuration which we have in production for the HP internal ALM instance: http://tinyurl.com/qcsense

It monitors:
- Authenticate
- Login
- Open defect details
- Create a defect
- Create a requirement
- Logout
- Add tests to Test Set
- Create new test
- End Manual test
- Run with manual runner
- Specific user monitoring (to monitor fully a user)

I'll be talking about our QC Sense experience during HP Discover 2013, session TB2892 (https://h30496.www3.hp.com/connect/sessionDetail.ww?SESSION_ID=2892)

Hopefully see you there to talk through it in details!

Regards,
Olivier

Many of those items listed are exactly what Mgmt wants us to start reporting on.

How do I get that coding from that page into QC Sense?

QC sense is a feature of QC/ALM, available since QC 10, which allows to monitor your ALM infrastructure as well as ALM user actions. It does so by instrumenting the ALM client so that you can measure precisely how long it takes to post a test result for example.

We use it a lot at HP.

It's easy:

- Use the link above and download the XML file on your PC

- Go to ALM Site Admin, in the tools/ QC Sense / Configuration menu

- In the QC Sense configuration tool, choose File / Import Configuration

- Tweak per your liking

- Note that the QC Sense config "light bulbs" must be yellow (turned on) for QC Sense to be active. If this is not the case, right click on the "Global Settings" light bulb, and select "Turn QC Sense ON"

- Save. QC sense is now turned on and gathering the data you asked

- To see the reports, from site admin, go to tools / QC Sense / Reports.

Hope this helps!

Regards,

Olivier.

Re: QC Sense Monitoring Recommendations

Ok last question, I hope. 😇 Now that I have configured, I try to produce the reports but they're coming up blank. Any idea what I screwed up? Thanks
