How to inform users if there is any ALM server downtime?

Hi,

 

Kindly let me know if there is any way to inform users if there is any ALM server downtime?

 

Via tool using any message pop-up when user login or some BKM

Hi Vinay ,

 

Currently there is no feature to broadcast mail to all ALM users to notify some information .

 

There are Enahncement requests raised to make this broadcast feature available.

Unfortunately there is no timeline specified for the implementation of the Enhancements.

 

It depends on global demand for the feature which later RnD prioritizes.

Hi V,

 

Actually you can use a simple workflow script that can inform the users about the planned downtime upon their login.

Of course in order to make sure that all users are informed, you should add the code to all active projects. For example, you can use something like this:

 

Function CanLogin(DomainName, ProjectName, UserName)
  On Error Resume Next
     msgbox "Planned server downtime: dd/mm hh:mm"
  CanLogin = DefaultRes
  On Error GoTo 0
End Function

That's a simple process until you span that across hundreds of projects. Still surprised that an enterprise tool lacks the capability for some of these very basic functions

Site admin has a basic feature.

 

It works only for users who have logged into ALM.

 

Login to site admin >>Site connection

Choouse user you want to send message (you have option to group by project)

 

right click and send message.
