Staffing Profile View in PPM 9.22

The Staffing Profile View in PPM 9.22 is set to show 25 lines and Collapsed by default.

Is there a way to change the default behavior?

To say Show ALL and Expand ALL ?

Re: Staffing Profile View in PPM 9.22

Hi Ur1

the functionality that you are referring to has been implemented as a quest to solve previously reported performance issues on 9.1 especially, but also before and after. it is documented in the 9.22 release notes, page 137 (attached)

Paying also tribute to the performance issues, you can now run a partial refresh to Staffing Profile updates as also discussed in the same chapter of the guide.

As far as I'm aware, there is currently no setting to enable your request to show all and collapse, as it could severely effect the performance of the Staffing Profile when being opened, especially with a lot of positions and assignments.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,
Dirk

Re: Staffing Profile View in PPM 9.22

thanks for the reply dirkf

We have a big performance issue with Staffing Profiles and IE 8 in PPM 9.22

We don't have the option to upgrade the browser in our environment in the forseeable future.

We tested a SP (113 positions) and time to load the data in the window was:

PPM 9.22

Browser

Allocation Weeks

Allocation Months

Positions & page

IE 8

11 seconds

9 seconds

113 Positions & show 25 per page

Chrome

5 seconds

4 seconds

113 Positions & show 25 per page

To perform work on any SP is untenable as it is so slow for example a typical scenario with IE 8 would be:

Time to load the data in the window was:

Open SP = 11 seconds

Expand All = 18 seconds

Scroll date slider = 12 seconds

Next Page = 10 seconds

Expand All = 18 seconds

Scroll date slider = 12 seconds

So to be productive when working with many SP’s as is the scenario in our environment is a compounding imopact from the poor performance of PPM 9.22 SP’s.

This is a big problem for us and need the functionality to be improved for IE to be at least useable.

Re: Staffing Profile View in PPM 9.22

Hi UR,

for what I'M seeing and especially with performance in Chrome being double as fast, possible FF showing the same kind of performance, the issue could be with rendering pages.

My suggestion is to open a new ticket with HP Support and have this investigated.

I've had something similar with IE and Requests that contain large number of sections and fields, it could be a related issue that needs to be investigated.

Best regards,

Dirk

Re: Staffing Profile View in PPM 9.22

Hi Dirk,

There's already a cased opened with R&D.

It's important to mention that the Staffing Profile with poor performance holds 113 positions and is spanning over 3 years.

A first workaround to improve performance is to only show 10 positions per pages instead of 25.

Still, R&D is currently investigating for ways to speed up page rendering.

Thanks,
Etienne.

Re: Staffing Profile View in PPM 9.22

hello,

as far as i understand there is any parameter that we can set staffing profile expand all functionality by deafult, right?

If it exist i would prefer to try loading performance, with using expand all by default.

thanks,

Nilay.

Re: Staffing Profile View in PPM 9.22

We have customers on 9.1 who have evaluated 9.22 and 9.3 and are seeing the same performance problems. For now they are staying on 9.1 until HP provide a resolution.

Re: Staffing Profile View in PPM 9.22

We are facing same issues too.. Having 9.22 and IE 8. Most of the users have reported that project details loading results in page error frequently.

Anyone have got solution from HP on this.

I will open a ticket for this anyways.

Thanks
Sakthi.
