Request Numbers sequence and maximum length

Can anyone tell me if what rules or constraints are around request Numbers sequence and maximum length.

For exampl we are in the five digit count around 48000.

Does this increment to a maximum like 99999?

We want to use the number in document naming rules and wish to know if this number will grow and to what number of digits?

Re: Request Numbers sequence and maximum length

Hi,

PPM will not put any limit to sequence numbers maximum length.

The upper bound on the PPM IDs in DB is that of Oracle NUMBER data type, i.e.  999...(38 9's) x10125 (according to http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28320/limits001.htm#i287903 ).

However, there are many IDs that are stored in Java Integers in PPM code, which will cause issues if the value exceeds 2,147,483,647.

In other words, I think it's safe to assume that PPM IDs will always remain under that limit. This may look like a relatively small number (at least compared to the Oracle limit), but considering that PPM IDs start at 30k, if your users create 100k new entities of a type per day (which is a very high estimate you'll agree), your PPM environment can still run for about 60 years before reaching that limit.

Thanks,

Etienne.
