Attempting to open Attachments leads to odd file names

Hello, we are running PPM 9.14.0005 and we are seeing an odd issue which has (so far) been reported by only 1 user. When attempting to open an attachment to a CR, he receives the following:

Capture_attachment_issue.JPG

What he should be seeing should be the same as what I see when I try to open the same attachment:

Capture_attachment_issue_correct.JPG

The color is of no issue, but the options (open or save vs. save only) and the file name are.  Previously, this guy has had no issues opening these attachments.

I am checking with him to find out if he is having the same issue on other, similar CRs.

Thanks for any insight!

Steve

Update - The user is experiencing the same response on attachements for other CRs as well so it is not specific to the request.

Re: Attempting to open Attachments leads to odd file names

Microsoft office files really are zip files.

Take any name.doc and simply add .zip to the filename (name.doc.zip).

Winzip will open the file if you double-click it.

Your other users browser does not trust your site.

Thus, it looks into the file and sees it is a zip, and will open it as a zip file.

Ok, I take that back. It is not a zip thing.

Is this user close enough to log on from your machine.

It still looks like a browser issue and security settings.

I will see if I can get him to use a different machine - good idea.  I was thinking about the browser settings, but wasnt certain that that was really the issue.

Re: Attempting to open Attachments leads to odd file names

Hi skbd,

I think that issue come from setting on web browser or  version web browser your user using.

Please confirm with him something:

1. Whith browser your user using ? IE, Firefox or Chrome ?

2. Which browser version ?

3. Which JDK version he installed on his computer ? The JDK installed on computer should compat
ible with PPM version.

Or you can give him exactly which browser you using, also the browser version and request him reinstall web browser.

Hope this help.

Thanks vinhloc81,

I may have touched based with him on this before, but I will double-check as I agree that would be a good step to take.
