Our Company is currenlty exploring various options to see if we can find a better replacement tool for Kintanta (PPM's Deployment Mgmt portion using Oracle Extensions) for our Oracle E-biz & various Java and other web related deployment Automations.
So was curious to see if we can get any suggestions from actual PPM Application Users who are using other modules of the applicaiton and their experience using a third party tool to handle the deployment portions.
Any kind of Suggestions or feedback would be Appreciated !!

That’s a great question! The Deployment Management module hasn’t seen much attention these days. :o)
Using the PPM Deployment Management Module, we’ve been able to create our own Custom Object Types to emulate most all of the Oracle EBS Command Line Utilities with great success. Utilities such as:
- xdoloader, etc, etc, etc.
Using the PPM Deployment Management Module, we’ve been able to create our own Custom Object Types to emulate most all PeopleSoft Command Line Utilities, also with great success.
We’ve also replaced the seeded PVCS object types in PPM with the newer Dimensions Express for versioning. All Custom Object Types developed internally. (Very happy developers)
The bottom line for me is, if you use a Vendor Product, when you grade your Software (Oracle EBS, PeopleSoft, etc) you’re at the mercy of the Migration Tool vendor to update their code, as opposed to dealing with these changes internally.
Personally, I like standing on my own two feet. :o) The Deployment Management is/was a great tool!

Yes this is definately something we have been exploring as well. In fact, we already have quite a few customizations to support CVS, Subversion and new objects like XDO Loader, BIP etc. etc.
But understandably, some team members here feel a little uneasy about the idea of too much reliance customization because of lack of vender support that goes with that because our ERP systems are very critical for our business needs.
Thanks for your feedback again !

There might not have been any brand new feature in DpM for ages, but as far as I can tell HP has no plan dropping the support for it (It keeps being supported for every new version of HP PPM Center).
You mean your team members are uneasy about maintaining their own written DpM content (as this is more content than customization at that level), or they do have some concerns about the past, present and/or future level of support on core DpM provided by HP?
