How to identify Specs by Serial Number

I have an old Compaq Proliant 1600 with a Pentium III in an office abroad. I have the serial number. How can I find the exact specs of the machine? Is there somewhere online I can type the numbers in to get a read-out of what was shipped?

Many thanks

Re: How to identify Specs by Serial Number

Hi,

if you post digits 5-8 of serial number, I can tell you what the standard specs are. (e.g. BWT1 or CSD1)

Re: How to identify Specs by Serial Number

It's not obvious. But if you click on "Replacement Parts" under Support & drivers. Here is the link below. They ask for the part no. and Serial no.

Can I find out the specs of an HP Elite 8100 Server by the serial number?  Thanks.

Re: How to identify Specs by Serial Number

It is a PC, not a server.

However, insert the serial at this page:

http://partserver.hp.com

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
